Feasibility study for the implementation of a new route for the Santa Lucía intraprovincial passenger transportation cooperative

Abstract

The purpose of this research work is to demonstrate the feasibility for the implementation of a new route for the Santa Lucía transport cooperative in the El Porvenir site. The approach of this study was due to the lack of a quality and efficient service that meets all the parameters for the movement of people and goods, in addition to the difficulties in public transport and the dangers that passengers are exposed to through informal services. Market research covering supply and demand was considered essential, through passenger loading and unloading gauges and surveys addressed to the inhabitants of the precinct, to measure the level of acceptability of the implementation of a new Route 3 of transport. It is intended to implement 3 operating units with 6 daily frequencies, with an average of 45 seats, with a travel time of 1 hour and 55 minutes, with approximately 67 km of travel on the route, where each unit has an established maximum speed of 70 km/h and a total capacity of the service per day of 270 seats offered and a demand of 90 passengers per day. Conducting the research allows us to give a better understanding of the economic structure of the cooperative, with the daily cost / benefit ratio, average daily income of $ 45,00 per unit, adding the operational and administrative costs for a value of $ 61 dollars, which is not feasible for the implementation of the new Route 3, because there is an additional increase to the value of daily income, of $ 16 dollars, which represents a 35,6% loss per unit offered.
